I've had a lifelong passion for sound and music, but my career as a freelance soundman began in 1991, when I first met and worked with Pete Talbot, a fine local DP who hired me to mix and spin tape on his trusty Nagra. We shot film and Betacam SP for industrials, cable docs, PSAs, and news projects. In April of '96 I began freelancing for ABC News, catching a lucky break with my proximity to the Unabomber story.

I've continued to record sound for a variety of projects, and I especially enjoy natural history and other documentary work. In the years since I've also mixed three features and had the pleasure to work for National Geographic, The BBC, The History Channel, Discovery, A&E, Lifetime, Bravo, ESPN, PBS, and a host of other world-class clients.

My philosophy of sound recording is quite simple. Trust your ears while watching the meters, pay attention to detail, and practice the craft with reliability while being a team player on the crew. I'm fairly well-rounded when it comes to production, and always enjoy helping out with lighting and production logistics.

When I'm not on location I enjoy scuba diving, good books, meeting interesting people, the outdoors, and perhaps most of all international travel - especially in Asia.
